April 2023 Newsletter

Spring Break, Daylight Saving Time, NCAA March Madness, and MLB’s Opening Day… all signs spring should have arrived by now.  This year however, someone forgot to tell Mother Nature as rainy weather is lingering a bit longer than usual around these parts.  Mind you, with much needed replenished reservoirs we’re certainly not complaining.  Views of the snow-covered Pine Valley Mountains and water flowing over Gunlock Falls remind us of the beauty Spring brings to Southwest Utah.

Club News
The SunRiver group is building up a head of steam for a terrific Model Railroad Open House and Tour. The largest turnout we’ve ever had with Bob Mallory, Victor Lorch, Larry Schneider, Werner Balsterholt, Byron Rasmussen, Dan Mangiaracina, Joe Adair, Keith Johnson, Dick & Evelyn Wilson, Richard Schacht, Eldon Chouinard, and Bryan Enarson operating multiple scales for the public to enjoy on Saturday April 29th from Noon to 4PM.  Come join us to enjoy the greatest hobby in the world, model railroading.  Click HERE for all the details.

Luncheon Dates
April 7th and April 21st - Bloomington Country Club at 11:30am.  If you plan to attend, contact Bryan Enarson (bryanlax@aol.com) no later than April 5th and/or April 19th.  NOTE:  Unlike the typical restaurant which welcomes any number of patrons, the country club rearranges their tables and chairs specifically for our luncheons thus the exact count of attendees is important.  Again, if you plan to attend, contact Bryan at the email shown above.

Oil Town USA
Al Thorne, Bryan Enarson, Jim Clark, Bob Mallory, and Dan Mangiaracina are nearing completion of the Lionel Group's project railroad.  Recent work included mixing and pouring two-part Enviro Tek resin for the waterway, adding small rocks and twigs to simulate debris in and around the stream bed, and adding black ground cover for roadways.  Click HERE and scroll down to the April 2023 Update for photos.
