2020 Winter Business Meeting
The 2020 Color Country Model Railroad Club business
meeting was called to order at 7:00pm by president Dave Merrill. In
attendance were club officers Al Thorne
(VP Lionel Group), Larry Schneider (VP G scale Group, Club Treasurer),
Jim
Harper (VP O scale Group), M. David Merrill (VP HO scale Group and
Superintendent, Southern Utah Division), Bob Mallory, Dan Mangiarcina,
Terry Schramm, Bryan
Osborn, Jim Clark, Werner Balsterholt, Rich Wilson, Bruce Klawitter, Joe
Zukowski, and Lloyd Thomson (webmaster).
Financial Reporting:
Outgoing expenses for 2019 included building materials
for the Lionel and DRMC Children’s layouts, as well as the annual Spring BBQ
and Christmas Party. 2019 paid
membership increased to 39. Club members
who haven’t contacted Larry Schneider with their dues payment are encouraged to
do so soon.
2020 Club Organization: After three years of service, Dave
Merrill submitted his termination as club president. Al Thorne was nominated to succeed Dave, approved
by voice vote, and conducted the remainder of the meeting. Bob Mallory initiated a discussion on club
officer succession, suggesting future presidents be drawn from the club’s Board
or VP’s ranks. No final decision was reached
on the matter. To succeed Al Thorne as Lionel
Group VP, Bob Mallory was nominated and approved by voice vote. Lastly, Rich Wilson accepted the nomination of
N-Scale Group VP and was approved by voice vote. Club officers and coordinators are listed

2019 Layout Tour:
November 8-11, 2019
Various methods were employed to spread the word
including the Club’s website and the Division’s Facebook page, local
newspapers, radio spots, and four newly created banners displayed near high
traffic intersections in St. George. (Expense
for two additional banners for the 2020 tour was approved by voice vote.) Twenty railroads ranging from N scale to G
scale were open to the public with over 1600 visitors tallied on Saturday

G scale Railroad for the DRMC Pediatrics Playroom:
After several delays, construction is finally underway. Desert Star Glass will fabricate the around-the-room
shelf at their facility beginning January 21 and schedule playroom installation
on or about January 28. The G scale
group will complete the project as soon as Desert Star Glass is finished. Be sure to visit the website for photos of the

Christmas Party: December 3, 2019
Hosted by Evelyn and Dick Wilson at the Elks Lodge, this
year's gathering included great company, wonderful food, and a delightful gift
