Heber Valley Railroad

Today we boarded the Heber Valley Railroad at the Heber City depot for the 16-mile excursion to Vivian Park.  Three heavyweight passenger cars and a baggage car (outfitted for food and beverage service) were pulled by an EMD Military Road Switcher (MRS-1) built originally for the United States Army Transportation Corps in April 1952.   To read further information about this unique locomotive manufactured with multigauge trucks by both EMD and ALCO, visit https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EMD_MRS-1.  (The article also includes history of locomotive #1813.)
